IMO Class 3 Chapter 3: Calendar and Time Detailed Notes

We have clocks that tell us the time in hours, minutes, and seconds.

However, how do we keep track of the days, weeks, and months?

We make use of calendars.

What exactly are calendars?

  • A calendar is a chart or set of pages that lists the days and months of the year in an orderly fashion.
  • Calendars frequently use different colors to indicate weekends and holidays such as Christmas and Easter.

Although most calendars are now on our phones, some people still hang them on their walls.

Reading a Calendar

Now, let’s look at some of the ways we can use calendars!

Counting Down the Days

A calendar can be used to count the number of days between two dates.

A calendar can also be used to count specific days such as Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

For example:

This month has how many days in total?

This month starts on the 1st and ends on the 31st.

As a result, the month has 31 days.
