IMO Class 3 Chapter 4: Money Detailed Notes

There are several coins used in India when it comes to money. It could be 25 paisa, 50 paisa, 1 rupee, 2 rupees, 5 rupees, or 10 rupees.

Assume you have fifty rupee notes and twenty-five rupee coins. In other words, consider this amount to be Rs. 50 and paise 25.

In numbers, we call it 50 Rupees 25 Paise, or 50.25.

₹ – A Rupee’s international symbol

We write fifty-five rupees as Rs. 55 or 55.

When we combine rupees and paise, 25 rupees and 75 paisa, we get 25.75. Rupees and paise are separated by a point.

Rupee to Paisa conversion

As we all know, 

1 Rupee = 100 paise

To convert rupees to paisa, multiply the number of rupees by 100.

Example 1: Convert 75 to paisas.

Solution: 75 = 75 times 100 = 7500 paisa

Paise to Rupee Conversion

To convert paisa to rupees and paise, simply place a dot (.) after two figures from the right of the given number and write Rs. To the left of the specified amount.

We are aware that,

1 rupee = 100 paise

As a result, to convert rupees to paisa, multiply the rupee number by 100.

Paise to rupee conversion.

To convert paisa to rupees, multiply paisa by 100.

Example:- 5050p = 5050 / 100 = 50.50
