Maths Olympiad Level 2: Exam Dates & Grade-Wise Syllabus

Mathematics Olympiad Level 2: Exam Dates, Eligibility and Grade-Wise Syllabus

Looking for the Mathematics Olympiad Level 2 exam date or the syllabus for your class? Begin by checking which organiser and exam stage your school uses. The School Connect Olympiad (SCO) has a public Mathematics Olympiad cycle calendar and grade-wise learning pages. A separate Level 2 or international-round invitation must be verified with the organiser; it should not be assumed to share every published general Maths exam slot.

This guide explains the current SCO Maths calendar, how Level 1 and Level 2 differ, the Grades 3–12 topic pathways, where to find official syllabuses and free practice resources, and how to prepare confidently. You can also try 12 original examples with worked answers.

SCO Mathematics Olympiad Exam Dates: October–December 2026

For the SCO Winter 2027 cycle, covering September–December 2026, the official SCO exam-date portal lists these upcoming general Mathematics Olympiad (SCO IMO) slots as displayed on 13 October 2026:

Published SCO IMO dateHow to interpret it
18 Oct 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
06 Nov 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
14 Nov 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
15 Nov 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
04 Dec 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
12 Dec 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle
20 Dec 2026Upcoming general SCO Maths slot in the Winter 2027 cycle

These are general SCO IMO calendar dates, not independently confirmed Level 2 examination dates. They may change, fill or be superseded by newer cycles. A qualifying student must follow the specific Level 2/international-round notice, admission instructions or school coordinator’s confirmed schedule. For live availability, use the official date page and student registration workflow, not an older blog table.

The current official SCO Maths 2026–27 schedule PDF provides historical and cycle-planning context. The Maths 2026–27 rules PDF describes Spring, Summer and Winter exam windows and says that the selected portal slot is authoritative. A cycle name such as ‘Winter 2027’ may refer to an exam season in late 2026; check the actual date and year rather than guessing from the cycle label.

What about February–March Level 2 dates?

Some older articles describe Level 2 mathematics examinations as taking place in February or March. That is not a universal or currently verified SCO Level 2 date rule. Do not book travel, plan holidays or prepare for a fixed Level 2 day based on an old generic article. Each organiser and qualification stage can have its own timetable.

What Is Mathematics Olympiad Level 2?

Level 2 is a stage, not Class 2. In many Olympiad programmes, an initial assessment (Level 1) precedes a higher-difficulty, qualifying or international stage (Level 2). Other organisers use different language or round structures. Before planning preparation, confirm the competition name, eligible grade, qualification threshold, mode and round-specific schedule.

  1. Find the exact organiser and examination title on your invitation or portal.
  2. Check whether Level 2 is automatically offered or requires a published Level 1 result or qualifying invitation.
  3. Read the class/grade eligibility, paper pattern, language, device requirements and scoring rules.
  4. Obtain the stage-specific confirmed date and time before treating a general Olympiad slot as your appointment.
  5. Remember that SCO IMO is an independent school-level competition and is not the official national-team International Mathematical Olympiad.

Mathematics Olympiad Syllabus: Grades 3–12

The following is a grade-wise overview of SCO Mathematics preparation topics, based on the official SCO Maths subject guide. Use the linked class page for the detailed current syllabus, sample papers and answer keys. Students in Classes 1 and 2 can also find age-appropriate mathematics resources through the SCO Maths class selector. Their class numbers do not indicate a Level 1 or Level 2 exam stage. For everyone, the current syllabus and official exam instructions take precedence over this quick overview.

How to Confirm Level 2 Eligibility and Registration

  • Students: check the current SCO student registration form and your Level 1 score/qualification notice, where applicable. Do not assume registering again automatically books Level 2.
  • Schools: the institution registration form lets coordinators plan participation; special stage arrangements must still be confirmed by SCO.
  • Fees: the current general SCO Maths registration catalogue lists ₹200 or US$12 as a subject price in some payment modes. This is not evidence of the separate Level 2 fee; check the final selected stage and checkout details before payment.
  • International students: confirm the time zone, examination language, accepted payment methods and connectivity/proctoring requirements in the specific invitation.
  • Official instructions: consult the Maths rules and regulations for general exam integrity expectations, including restrictions on external help, devices and AI tools.

Exam Pattern and Marking: What to Expect

SCO’s 2026–27 Maths rules describe an online proctored format built around objective questions, problem-solving, logical reasoning, data interpretation and applications. Lower grades may use simpler or visual questions; senior grades can involve algebra, geometry, combinatorics, statistics and higher mathematical reasoning. The question count, duration, marks and any negative marking depend on the exam-specific instructions; never assume every class or stage uses the same figures.

Where to Find Sample Papers, Solutions and Original Practice

After finding the correct class syllabus, use the official SCO Maths downloads for current syllabus material, class-wise sample papers and available answer keys. For a separate practice-resource comparison, visit our Level 2 Maths Olympiad preparation resources guide. For worked paper collections, see Maths Olympiad Class 3–12 Level 2 solutions and the class-wise previous-paper hub.

Use the official paper or licensed download rather than copying full copyrighted competition papers from unofficial sources. The short problems below are independently written educational examples, not representations of a specific 2026 Level 2 examination.
