CBSE introduces Facial Recognition System
As per the latest update, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a new Facial Recognition System that will allow students to access and Download their Marksheets and Certificates platforms like Digilocker and Parinam Manjusha. Earlier, students could access their official documents through these digital platforms only via the help of their Aadhar Cards or Mobile Numbers. However, with the introduction of the new technology, students will now not have to input their Aadhar number or their mobile number every time they need to download their mark sheets or documents for 10th and 12th.
Official Statement Issued by the Board
To confirm the development, the CBSE Board has issued a formal statement which confirms deployment of FRS technology on digital platforms to access the academic documents of the students. The statement issued by the board reads ““Using the state of the art Facial Recognition System CBSE will enable students to download their digital academic documents of class 10th and 12th. A live image of the student will be matched with the photograph on the CBSE admit card already stored in the repository, and once successful, the certificate will be emailed to the student.”
Certificates via Digital Platforms
In line with the government’s Digital India campaign, the CBSE Board has started issuing digital certificates to the students of Class 10 and Class 12 via digital platforms such as DigiLocker and “Parinam Manjusha”. Amid the pandemic, many students find it difficult to produce physical documents for admission purposes, therefore, the digital certificates issued by the board have come to the rescue of the students as far as admission processes are concerned. Moreover, the board has also announced that it has hosted digital certificates for Class 10 and 12 students from 2004 to 2020 and all students can now log onto the portal to access their digital certificates using the facial recognition system. Approximately 12 crores digital academic documents are available in the Digi locker for the students to access.
