NTSE Preparation

Well before jumping into the pool of NTSE examination, a candidate must have detailed information regarding the safety and how to swim in that pool without drowning. For that, the applicant should be aware of the examination pattern slated by the conducting body i.e. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Moreover, the applicant should collect some tips and tricks required for smart work along with the hard work for cracking the NTSE exam.

Sneak Peek of NTSE examination pattern

1.    Number of Questions: In each of the exams i.e. mental ability and scholastic aptitude tests, there are overall 100 questions as per the exam pattern issued by the NCERT.  

2.   Marking Scheme: In accordance with the modified marking scheme of NTSE 2021, the candidates will be granted one mark for each question correctly answered, and there will be a negligible repercussion of the questions answered incorrectly. 

3.   Exam Category: The exam conducted by the authorities will be divided into two categories as Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).

4.   Duration of Exam: The duration for each NTSE exam NTSE for every section that is (MAT and SAT) will be for two hours for all the applicants except for the visually aided candidates. The visually aided candidates are granted thirty more minutes after the time duration of two hours is completed. 

5.   Types of Questions: The question covered under the paper of NTSE will include only objective type i.e. multiple-choice questions

6.   Minimum Marks Requirements: For the candidates representing the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe minimum marks required is 32% though for candidates belonging from general and other backward classes, the minimum marks required is 40%. 

Preparation Tips and Tricks

Make a schedule

 A schedule/timetable is the most initial and imperative for the preparation for the NTSE exam. Slate a whole schedule of the syllabus, proper segregation of the units, and chalk out all the mandatory topics which need to be precisely covered and on time. NTSE class 10 previous year papers

Practice sample papers

 It is essential for the candidates to practice maximum numbers of the previous year’s question papers, sample papers, and attempt mock tests on a regular basis to know the overall pattern of the test.

 Since most of the part of the NTSE syllabus encompasses the 9th and 10th standard, the candidates should thoroughly go through the NCERT books and do proper revision of all the topics.
