NSEJS Exam Stages

Stage 1:

Across 80,000 individuals from all across the nation take the exam every year in an attempt to get on the merit list, from which about 300 students are selected on the basis of merit. In the event of a tie in the final rank, all students who received the same scores here are eligible to sit the stage 2 or second level exam.

Stage 2:

This portion of the exam is more challenging, and candidates who pass and advance to the next round must achieve a minimum admissible score (MAS) cutoff of 50% of the maximum score. An invitation-only two-week program is extended to the top 35 participants in the Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO). Following that, six individuals are selected as the Indian team to compete in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
