Chapter 1 – Rational Numbers – Class – 8 – Notes
The numbers which are involved in many mathematical applications such as addition, subtraction and multiplication which are inherently closed with many mathematical processes are called Rational numbers.
Chapter 2 – Linear Equations in One Variable – Class – 8 – Notes
In this type of equation, the expressions which are involved in the formation of the equation are made up of one variable. I.e. The highest power of the variables used in the equations is 1. The solution to this linear equation can be any rational number. This equation may consist of expressions which are linear on both sides of the equal to sign.
Just like numbers, we can also transpose the variables from one side of the equation to the other side. The simplification of the equations which was formed by expressions and this can be done by bringing the equation into a linear form by equating the expression by multiplication using suitable techniques. Utilization of linear equations can be seen in diverse scenarios such as problems on numbers, perimeter, ages, currency, and even algebra has linear equations applications.CBSE Class 8 Maths Syllabus
Chapter 3 – Understanding Quadrilaterals – Class – 8 – Notes
Quadrilaterals are one type of polygon which has four sides and four vertices and four angles along with 2 diagonals. There are various types of quadrilaterals.
In Geometry, the shapes or objects are classified based on the number of sides. The different classification of shapes are:
- Triangle ( 3-sides)
- Quadrilateral (4-sides)
- Pentagon (5-sides)
- Hexagon (6-sides)
- Heptagon (7-sides)
- Octagon (8-sides) and so on.
Chapter 4 – Practical Geometry – Class – 8 – Notes
It is very easy to construct a quadrilateral when its five measurements are determined that is
- The length of the four sides and the length of its diagonal is known
- The length of the three sides and the length of the two diagonals are known
- If the three angles and two adjacent sides are given
- If the three sides and two angles are given
Chapter 5 – Data Handling – Class – 8 – Notes
Data handling is referred to the procedure done to organize the information provided in order to perform mathematical operations on them.
In Statistics, “Data Handling” is an important concept that ensures the integrity of the research data, as it addresses some important concerns such as security, confidentiality, and the preservation of the research data. In every field, we have information in the form of a numerical figure. Every figure of this kind is known as an observation. Generally, the collection of all the observations is called data. To handle the data, Statisticians use different data management methods.
Chapter 6 – Squares and Square Roots – Class – 8 – Notes
Squares and Square Roots Class 8 is specially designed by math experts who have taken extra care to use simple language and style so that students can understand concepts easily and quickly.
Chapter 7 – Cubes and Cube Roots – Class – 8 – Notes
Cubes and Cube Roots Class 8 given here come in an easy to understand format and students can quickly go through all the topics given in chapter 7. This chapter will help students to understand and remember the concepts better and prepare well for the exams.
Chapter 8 – Comparing Quantities – Class – 8 – Notes
Comparing Quantities Class 8, Chapter 8 given here has been carefully put together by experts to help students understand all the concepts given in chapter 8 clearly and at the same time allow them to practice sums effectively.
Chapter 9 – Algebraic Expressions and Identities – Class – 8 – Notes
An algebraic expression in mathematics is an expression which is made up of variables and constants, along with algebraic operations (addition, subtraction, etc.). Expressions are made up of terms. They are also termed as algebraic equations.
Chapter 10 – Visualising Solid Shapes – Class – 8 – Notes
In geometry, 2d shapes and 3d shapes are explained widely to make you understand the different types of objects you come across in real life. These shapes have their own pattern and properties. Depending on many factors, such as angle, sides, length, height, width, area, volume, etc., the shapes can vary. These 2D and 3D shapes have been taught to us since our primary classes.
Chapter 11 – Mensuration – Class – 8 – Notes
Mensuration is a branch of mathematics which mainly deals with the study of different kinds of Geometrical shapes along with its area, length, volume and perimeters. It is completely based on the application of both algebraic equations and geometric calculations. The results obtained by the Mensuration are considered very accurate. Mensuration is the branch of mathematics that studies the measurement of the geometric figures and their parameters like length, volume, shape, surface area, lateral surface area, etc.
Chapter 12 – Exponents and Powers – Class – 8 – Notes
Exponents and Powers Class 8, chapter 12 given are a great study tool to boost productivity and improve overall knowledge about the topics. In 8th standard, the concept of exponents, powers and their applications in the real world are explained clearly. This chapter helps students to build a strong foundation on the concept of exponents and powers.
Chapter 13 – Direct and Inverse Proportions – Class – 8 – Notes
When two variables change in the same sense i.e as one amount increases, the other amount also increases at the same rate it is called direct proportionality. When two variables such as x and y are given, y is directly proportional to x if there is non zero constant k. The constant ratio is called the constant of proportionality or proportionality constant.
Chapter 14 – Factorisation – Class – 8 – Notes
An expression can be factored into the product of its factors. These factors can be algebraic expressions, variables and numbers also.
Factors of a number are defined as numbers or algebraic expressions that divide a given number/expression evenly. We can also say, factors are the numbers which are multiplied to get the other number. For example, 1, 3 and 9 are the factors of 9, because 1 × 9 = 9 and 3 × 3 = 9. Here, the concepts of factors are explained, which will help to understand how to find the factors and know the prime factors of some common digits.CBSE Class 8 Maths Syllabus
Chapter 15 – Introduction To Graphs – Class – 8 – Notes
Graphical methods used to present data are very efficient in organizing the data and understanding them. There are various graphical methods which are mentioned below:
- While comparing among categories, the method which is appropriate is the bar graph.
- While comparing parts of a whole, pie-chart is the ideal method.
- When data is provided in intervals, a histogram can be used for easier understanding.
- In the case of the data changing continuously over a period of time, a line graph will be useful
- When an unbroken line is represented, it is done with the help of a linear graph
Chapter 16 – Playing With Numbers – Class – 8 – Notes
We come across numbers every day in our life. We buy a commodity with money and measure its quantity. Money and quantity all these are simply done with the help of numbers. Therefore the number plays a very significant role in our life. There are many types of numbers used in the number system based on convenience and requirements. For instance integers, whole and natural numbers etc which are often used for quantifying different things around us.CBSE Class 8 Maths Syllabus
