NSO National Science Olympiad is organized every year for classes 1-12 by SOF . National Science Olympiads helps students from different schools, classes and nations connect and compete together to make academics fun and achieving. They provide exposure to students and school across nation to the academic competition. This Olympiad provides opportunities for future scientists and scholars to sharpen their skills.

NSO and it’s importance

Clarity of concepts:

Olympiad exams are all more importantly about getting the concepts right. Basic knowledge is designed on the foundation delivered in early years of learning. Students can familiarise themselves with a myriad of questions only when the concepts are clear. Conceptual understanding plays an instrumental role in developing good grip over topics.

Prepares for other competitions:

Olympiads benefit students to be equipped for future competitions. It develops a good working knowledge on the type of questions asked. Higher education system expects students to appear for various national level entrance tests and crack these with good percentiles. Those students attempting Olympiads will find it comparatively easy to clear these entrance tests and enables them to come out with flying colours.

Boosts self-confidence:

Olympiad exams motivate students to perform better each time. This boosts self-confidence and bestows upon students the ability to face more such academic challenges in their best possible way.

Encourages self-learning:

Today, with the provision of Online learning and online Olympiads, students can learn at their own pace. These exams encourage self-learning that goes a long way in students’ life. It stimulates them to examine their progress on a timely basis. It also guarantees to optimize their score with vigorous practice.

Assists academic performance:

All Olympiad exams are based on existing school syllabus. Students are required to study the same topics they learn in school for Olympiads also. Thus, those who practice well for Olympiads will naturally cultivate a habit of scoring well in their school exams. It bolsters and nurtures academic performance.

How to register?

Students can register for SOF NSO 2021 by filling the application form and submitting it along with the registration fee of Rs 125

  • Class: You need to be a student in Classes 1 to 12 to be eligible for this exam.
  • Boards: You must be a student of SSC, ICSE or CBSE boards.
  • Qualifying for second level examination:

The top 5% of students (class-wise) also benchmark percentile score who appear for the first level exam.

Class toppers from each participating school; where at least 10 students participate and score a minimum of 50%.

  • Year of attempt: As long as you’re a student enrolled in any of Classes 1 to 12, you can apply for  International Science Olympiad and IMO or International Maths Olympiad)
  • Number of attempts: You can only attempt one time in a year for any olympiad with 2 qualifying stages.
  • Year of attempt: As long as you’re a student enrolled in any of Classes 1 to 12, you can apply for International Science Olympiad and IMO or International Maths Olympiad once in every academic year.
