NSEB Eligibility Criteria

The National Standard Examination in Biology is administered by the Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences in association with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). It gives biology-interested students an opportunity to assess how well they grasp the subject. Candidates should confirm they meet the NSEB eligibility standards before applying for the exam. Students can compete in international olympiads and have their scientific knowledge evaluated by NSEB tests, which are administered once a year. Before we go into the details, let’s examine the NSEB exam as a whole.

Eligibility Criteria for NSEB

Students should be Indian citizens and meet the requirements for an Indian passport

Students who want to take the National Standard Examination in Biology must not have taken their 12th board exam before.

To be eligible for the National Standard Examination in Biology, students must have been born between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2008, both days inclusive; additionally, they must be enrolled in an Indian school as of November 2019 or before.

Q1 My twelfth board exam went well. Is it feasible for me to sign up for the Biology National Standard Exam?

It is specifically stated in the qualifying regulations that children must be enrolled in school, meaning that they must be in grades 12 or lower. After passing the 12th board exams, you are also not able to register for or enroll in the NSEB.

Q2 Can I sit for the 2021–22 National Standard Examination in Biology if I attended an Indian school the year before?

To sit for the NSEB exam in 2021–2022, you have to be registered in an Indian institution or school starting in November 2019. You will not be permitted to take the test if this is not the case.

Q3 If I take the National Standard Examination in Biology, will I be able to write the NSEJS?

According to the qualifying requirements for the NSEB exam, any student taking another NSE examination, such as NSEJS, NSEA, or NSEC, is not eligible to take the National Standard Examination in Biology.

Q4 Where can I find the NSEB results?

On iapt.org.in, the official website of the IAPT, students can check their NSEB results.

Q5 Does the NSEB exam have a negative marking policy?

Yes, for every correct response, students gain three points, and for every incorrect response, they lose one point from their final total.
