Emirates Young Scientist Competition – EYSC Overview
Emirates Young Scientist Competition – EYSC is one of the most important event held by education ministry in UAE – United Arab Emirates.
The objective of this event is to encourage schools, teachers and students to inspire and ignite a spark of passion for Science, Technology, entrepreneurship and other innovation inorder to bring together the talent from different field together.
EYSC offers students to learn,share,innovate, discuss,work in group to achieve a perfect tangible solution for the problem addressed for the geographical development and ease of human living backed by scientific research ,science and technology.
Dates: 1st – 5th of February 2025
Location: Dubai Festival Arena

Various Participation Categories –
1 – Technology
The project that is approved for this category must be outstanding, combined with fresh and creative applications, improved efficiencies, and easy to use and intelligent.
Electronics, robotics, communications, technology applications, Internet of Things, computers, and automation are all included in this category. Every technological option used in the project was chosen by the students, and it was expected of them to comprehend the fundamentals of using and implementing technology.
To ensure they get the most out of the project, students need also be aware of the fundamental science underlying the technology.(Emirates Young Scientist Competition – EYSC)
2 – Chemical ,Physical and Mathematical Sciences
Every project chosen for this category needs to have a foundation in advanced physics, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and applied mathematics.
Additionally, the project must be established in earth and space sciences, such as astronomy, geophysics, and meteorology.
3 – Biological and Ecological Sciences
Every project selected under this category must focus on biological and ecological science and properly investigate various elements of human life, micro-organisms, animals, plants, and other related topics.
Agriculture, anatomy, animal science, biochemistry, biotechnology, disease, ecology, environmental science, enzymology, forestry, food science, genetics, mutation, horticulture, medical science, metabolism, microbiology, molecular biology, physiology, physiotherapy, plant science, or veterinary science are the areas of study where the majority of the findings in the project are related to.
4 – Social and Behavioural Sciences
The social and behavioural sciences, geography, physiology, and sociology of behaviour, social influence, attitudes, and experience, social analysis of environmental elements, demography, learning, or perception should all be the foundation of the project.
The aim of this project is to investigate human behavior and attitude concerning health, nutrition, hygiene, work, leisure, and living habits, as well as to develop a rational solution for problems affecting human life and health and those of the neighbouring population.
Projects including the application of scientific methodologies in the fields of political science, social anthropology, consumer affairs, and effects on society are also acceptable.
Participation Rules
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools used in the project’s research, implementation, or documentation phases must be readily understood and acknowledged by the supervisors and the students who participated.
- Projects that the have previously been submitted to prior Think Science or NSTI/EYSC competitions are not eligible unless they went through significant enhancements.
- Students in 5th-12th grade in private, public, and vocational schools are welcome to participate.
- Students can work on collaborative initiatives (up to three students per group, with a maximum of one non-UAE national allowed) or individual projects (only open to UAE nationals).
- It is restricted to one project per student, irrespective of whether they have taken part individually or in a group.
- In addition to stating specifically where they got support from any source, students must credit every single source of information utilized in their research papers.
Age Groups
- Intermediate Level: Students in Grade 5 to 8
- Senior Level: Students in grades 9 to 12

Invitation to participate in the Emirates Young Scientist Competition
Registration and Project Proposal – September 2024
The teacher or the Project Supervisor creates an account and registers his students and their project proposal.
Registration and Proposal Deadline – October 2024
The first stage of registration must be completed before this date.
Phase 2 Submission – November 2024
Qualified projects will receive an email informing participants of the details of the virtual assessment (progress video upload) for the second phase.
Phase 2 Deadline – December 2024
By this date all projects qualified to the second phase should have submitted their progress video and all other requirements for phase 2.
Announcement of the Qualified projects for the 2024 Emirates Young Scientist Competition – December 2024
The 100 top selected projects will receive their invitation to attend the NSTI Festival from 1st to 5th of February with the hope of becoming the 2024 Emirates Young Scientist winner.
National Science Technology and Innovation Festival – February 2025
All 100 projects will be evaluated by professional judges over 5 days, and the announcement of the winner will be made on the last day during the closing ceremony.

Young Scientist Award – The prize is AED 50,000 AED
Young Scientist Runner-up Award – The prize is 25,000 AED
